Lightning Southern Circuit – second stop

Published on March 14th, 2013

Miami, FL (March 13, 2013) – The second stop of the Lightning Southern Circuit concluded today with two races in great breeze! Ched Proctor, Tim Milhiser and Jay Lurie, won the first race of the day but that wasn’t enough to take the championship. Allan Terhune, Katie Terhune and Sam Purisi from Annapolis finished 3rd in the first race and held off Team Proctor in the final race to take the overall lead. Todd Wake, Kristine Wake and Neal Fowler won the day with a 7, 2 to pull into third overall.

There were three former Lightning World Champions competing here, Larry MacDonald, CAN, David Dellenbaugh, USA and Tito Gonzales, CHI. There were six North American Champs too, Larry, Thomas Allen, IV, Ched Proctor, Allan Terhune, as well as husband and wife David and Jody Starck who have each won the NA’s.

David Dellenbaugh, Hale Walcoff and Kip Hamblet are sailing Kip’s 11346 Allen Lightning, which we guesstimate to be circa early 1970’s, a forty-plus year old boat! TLC pays off!

Complete results here.

The fleet now moves to the final stop in St Petersburg, FL for the Winter Lightning & Master Championships (March 14-17).
