British windsurfing Olympian dies in bike crash

British windsurfing Olympian Howard Plumb succumbed to injuries sustained in a cycling accident in West Sussex over the weekend.

The 42-year-old, who lived in Westbourne, represented Great Britain in the Mistral event at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games where he finished 24th.

As reported by RYA, the British yachting federation, Mr Plumb is understood to have suffered serious head injuries following a collision with a car in Charlton, near Chichester, on Saturday 5 July and was taken to St George’s Hospital in London by air ambulance but later succumbed to his injuries.
