Designed to be a Fun Day for Family and Friends

Published on June 26th, 2015

The Conanicut Yacht Club will host the 88th annual Around the Island Race on Sunday, September 6, 2015. This annual event is the historic capstone to summer racing on Narragansett Bay and the highlight of Labor Day Weekend for all competitors.

The popular race around Conanicut Island is open to all sailboats that have a PHRF NB (Performance Handicap Racing Fleet of Narragansett Bay) rating.

“Our annual race, not only the traditional circumnavigation sailing event, is designed to be a fun day for family and friends to compete and share the season’s stories and the camaraderie that is Narragansett Bay sailing,” shared John Mayers, race chairman. “This year the race will again recognize the fastest corrected and uncorrected circumnavigation of Conanicut Island with our “open” awards. These awards as well as the traditional class awards and post-race party provide plenty of competition and fun.”

The post-race party featuring cool libations, dinner prepared and presented by CYC’s outstanding staff and an awards ceremony will be held at CYC following the race.

Registration is now open and Notice of Race is available at www.conanicutyachtclub.org/ATI.aspx.
