No go today at Thistle Nationals

Published on July 29th, 2015

Fort Walton Beach, FL (July 29, 2015) – The morning postponement for the third day of the Thistle Class National Championship became an all day postponement as Mother Nature failed to deliver for the 50-boat fleet.

“We waited under postponement for the wind to switch around to the prevailing sea breeze but the heat and humidity of the day had other ideas,” reported class president Kyle Finefrock. “As we prepared to launch the boats the thunder clouds continued to build. The postponement came down, but only briefly. It quickly went back up with a call to ‘batten down the hatches!’ The afternoon was filled with wave after wave of spectacular thunderstorms.”

After three races, John Baker with crew Joy Martin and Aaron Holland leads with Mike Ingham trailing by one point and Paul Abdullah trailing by two points. Two more days of racing are scheduled.
