Stage 1 underway at Women’s Keelboat Champs

Rye, NY (August 16, 2016) – The American Yacht Club in Rye, N.Y. is hosting the International Women’s Keelboat Championship in J/70 class sailboats. This year’s regatta features 16 four-member crews who will rotate boats, competing 10 teams at a time. The qualifying series started today. Melinda Henshaw (Remuera, Auckland, NZL) and her team are in first with 15 points, followed by Kathryn Meyer (Seattle, WA) with 18 points. In third is Allie Blecher (Long Beach, CA) in the current standings. Stage 1 is scheduled to consist of three rounds of races with 10 teams competing in each race.
