Big Breeze for Snipe Don Q

Published on March 24th, 2017

Miami, FL (March 24, 2017) – The first day of the 51st Annual Snipe Don Q Regatta experienced blustery wind blowing in from offshore with rain squalls. While gusts in low to mid-twenties kept some sailors on shore, Ernesto Rodriguez and Kathleen Tocke of Miami ran away with the only race held.

Rounding the top of the course on the second windward leg of the two lap triangle course, they quickly built an insurmountable lead. Puerto Rican Raul Rios, sailing with Mac Agnese was second, followed by two former Snipe US National and Star North American champions Augie Diaz of Miami and George Szabo of San Diego who were sailing with Eddie Mentzias and Dianna Waterbury, respectively. Fifth was 15 year old Texan Asher Zitter with crew Watt Duffy.

The 39-boat fleet boasts 4 former Snipe World Champions and sailors from 8 countries.
