Winners get breakfast in Key West

Key West, FL (January 11, 2018) – Light winds prevailed for the 42nd Ft Lauderdale to Key West Race which had Steven Murray’s Volvo 70 Warrior take line honors just ahead of Jason Carroll’s Gunboat 62 to lead the IRC and Multihull classes into the barn. Arriving in time for breakfast to win the 160 nm race on corrected time was Ron O’Hanley’s Cookson 50 Privateer (IRC), Anson Mulder’s Oyster 575 24 Heures (PHRF), and Jason Carroll’s Gunboat 62 Elvis (Multihull).

The Fort Lauderdale to Key West Race is the third leg of the four race SORC Islands in the Stream Series, which concludes in Havana in February.

In the absence of Key West Race Week, the Conch Grinder Race has returned on January 13 which offers a chance for boats to get out on the bright waters of Key West before heading home to the cold.
