Northern route for Transatlantic Race

Published on January 11th, 2022

(January 11, 2022; Day 4) – The majority of the 2022 RORC Transatlantic fleet is north of the rhumb line as the south offers an area of light winds that stretches about 1,000 miles across the direct route. With Peter Cunningham’s MOD70 PowerPlay (CAY) getting the early jump, there are some interesting offensive and defensive tactics being employed as the giant trimarans streak toward the finish in Grenada. While PowerPlay is just outside multihull race record pace, the 100ft Maxi Comanche (CAY) skippered by Mitch Booth is well inside monohull race record pace.
