Costly volunteerism

From Brian Morris:
I noticed in Scuttlebutt 3793 that ISAF has reduced the time of their November Annual Conference in Muscat, Oman ‘In order for delegates and Member National Authorities (MNAs) to save costs the Executive Committee decided to reduce the length of the ISAF Annual Conference to seven days.’
Yet when you go to the ISAF website for the conference and look at the accommodation costs, a double room is 176 Euros and a single room is 158 Euros a night + 17% tax. That works out to 206 Euros (267 USD) for a double and 185 Euros (206USD) for a single per night. Then all the delegates have to buy their own meals.
ISAF pats itself on the back for reducing the costs by decreasing the the conference days. Then they find expensive hotel to put the conference at. At least they should be having options for alternate accommodation.
