VIDEO: Opening the door to disabled sailing

The C. Thomas Clagett, Jr. Memorial Clinic & Regatta in Newport, RI is North America’s premier event for sailors with disabilities sailed in the three Paralympic class boats.

It is open to both U.S. and foreign competitors and is an integral part of preparation for athletes preparing for Paralympic and world championship racing.

The Clagett mission is to provide sailors with disabilities the opportunity to improve their skills and reach personal goals through world-class coaching and competition.

The Clagett sailors have acknowledged how sail training, improving racing skills and enjoying the sport of sailing has significantly enhanced their quality of life. Sailing skills also translate to life skills for sailors such as teamwork, problem solving to help achieve success in other areas of life.
