BIG SAIL 2013: Stanford tops Cal in annual rivalry regatta

On a drizzly day with light breezes, the St Francis Yacht Club hosted the annual “Big Sail” on November 19. This Bay Area rivalry pits UC Berkeley against Stanford varsity, young alums and masters classes in the club’s fleet of J-22s.

Stanford won the first races of each of the best of 3 series, and then the wind quit and racing had to be abandoned.

The bands and the cheerleading squads were undaunted, however, and battled it out to an apparent draw in the main dining room of the Club as alums from both schools roared their approval.
