South Africa remains in lead at Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge

Published on August 16th, 2014

New York, NY (August 16, 2014) – In the second day of the Dennis Conner International Yacht Club Challenge, a different country won each of the three races.

France made a big comeback form the first day, winning the first race and then finishing with two fifth places. Bermuda won the second race as the wind came up from the sea breeze location. And the final race was won by Switzerland. The Swiss, who also won race 2, are the first team to win 2 races.

But the best sailors today were from Denmark with 2, 3 and 4 finishes. The Danish team has not won a race yet but they have never finished out of the top 4.

With one day and 2 races left, it seems the regatta has boiled down to two excellent teams with a chance to win. South Africa is currently ahead with 12 points and Denmark with 15 points. Sitting in third is the Swiss with 25 points and 2 race victories. Ireland (Howth) is in 4th with 28 and France and Bermuda are tied for 5th with 30 points.
