Expedition: Navigating and Routing Seminar

Published on June 22nd, 2015

A seminar on weather routing and Expedition software taught by America’s Cup and Transpac winner Peter Isler will be hosted by Transpacific Yacht Club at the Los Angeles YC on Saturday, June 27.

Expedition has powerful features that have earned its place on board America’s Cup and Volvo Race winners – but it is also easy enough to use for weekend day racers looking to step up to the next level of technology. Peter will discuss the many features of Expedition that can help racers (and cruisers) make sound strategic decisions based on the forecasted weather.

The seminar will also focus on Transpac race strategy, optimal routing, GRIB files for wind and current, and racing tips and a cheat sheet to help focus on the important weather information amongst all that is available.

Additionally, Harry Pattison from Ventus Navigation will be giving a short seminar on connecting and using Ventus Navigation apps with Expedition Navigation software during breaks and after Peter Isler’s Expedition seminar.

Material to be covered will include setting up a Ventus network connection in Expedition and on your mobile device, selecting data channels to receive, setting up custom pages to display the data you want, and some tricks to using Ventus efficiently. Harry will also be available during the intermission and after the seminar for questions and help.
