Flying Scot NA Championship: Stormy conditions

Published on June 24th, 2015

Bay St. Louis, MS (June 24, 2015) – The first two races of the 2015 Flying Scot North American Championship finals were run in highly variable winds. The seabreeze came in, then petered out, then returned, perhaps due to various storms in the area. Nevertheless, the race committee got off two good, fair races in moderately trying conditions for the Championship and Challenger fleets which have five races scheduled Wednesday through Friday, June 26.

Scores accumulated in the Championship and Challenger stages are combined with the Qualifying races held earlier in the week.

Shortly after the boats came in, though many were still at the dock, an enormous storm came through and the temperature dropped dramatically. After Day 1 of finals, after all protests were heard, the leaders in the Championship Division with a 10 point spread between 1st and 5th place are Jeff Linton, Rod Steiffel, Andrew Eagan, John Dane and Zeke Horowitz.
