Miami, FL (June 26, 2015) – Coast Guard search-and-rescue crews are searching for a missing sailor in the vicinity of Biscayne Bay, Florida on Friday.

Missing is Trevor Moore, 30, of Naples, Florida, and former member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic sailing team.

Moore was last seen around 1 p.m. Thursday at the U.S. Sailing Center in Coconut Grove before heading out alone on his boat.

At approximately 6 p.m. Thursday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received a report of an unmanned inflatable dinghy adrift in Dinner Key, Florida, with Moore’s personal belongings onboard.

Sector Miami issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast for mariners to be on the look out for a possible person in the water. An MH-65 helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Miami and a smallboat crew from Station Miami Beach, Florida, have been searching for Moore throughout the night.

Moore was last seen wearing a dark shirt and swim shorts.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Police and the National Park Service are assisting with the search.

Moore competed in the 2012 London Olympics, finishing 15th with skipper Erik Storck in the 49er class.

Update: A fleet of volunteer boats are out searching for Moore on Biscyane Bay, with a fund now set up to support this effort. All excess funds raised will be donated to the US Coast Guard Foundation.
