2016 KiteFoil World Championship Schedule Announced

The third season of the IKA KiteFoil GoldCup circuit will again gather in 2016 the worlds best riders on Hydrofoil Kiteboard, and for the first time will also award the 2016 KiteFoil World Championship title.

The 2016 tour will feature three events:
July 13-17 – Gizzeria, Italy
October – Boryeong, South Korea
November – The Pearl, Qatar

The decision to award the 2016 KiteFoil World Championship Titles came after negotiations with the already confirmed and contracted event organizers for the KiteFoil GoldCup.

While the International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) Annual General Meeting had earlier this year decided to award the world championship title through a one-off event in the future, it was subject to contractual negotiations. As contracts for 2016 had already been made under the assumption that the KiteFoil GoldCup would award the World Champion Titles, such agreements had to be respected and cannot be overturned without the approval of the effected parties.

IKA is an international class of World Sailing, the world governing body for the sport of sailing.

Registration will open shortly for the first event of the 2016 IKA KiteFoil GoldCup in Gizzeria Italy, and the exact dates for the remaining two events will also be confirmed shortly.
