Force 5 Race Week and Midwinter Championships

The 2016 Force 5 Race Week and Midwinter Championships were contested February 13-20 at the Upper Keys Sailing Club in Key Largo, FL. Thirty boats participated with sailors traveling from Canada and throughout the US.

Conditions were challenging with winds ranging from 17-22 knots with occasionally higher gusts out of the north-northeast. Eight races were completed in both full rig and short rig classes.

Winning for the sixth straight year in the standard rig class was Fred Meno IV from the Fort Worth Boat Club, Fort Worth, TX. In the short rig fleet Tom Trump took honors from the host Upper Keys Sailing Club, Key Largo, FL. Winning the DoubleHanded Championship were Tom and Pat Welsh representing the Thames Yacht Club in Waterford, CT.
