Since the launch of Scuttlebutt Sailing News in 1997, we have always taken seriously our mission to strengthen the sailing community by way of delivering trustworthy sailing news and responsible commentary. As a result, Scuttlebutt has grown to become the #1 ranked website for sailing news.
The quote, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life,” is well applied to my career. I may not have chosen a path toward great wealth, but for 30+ years I have merged my love of the game with professional fulfillment. I’ve been lucky.
After partnering with Scuttlebutt founder Tom Leweck in 2002, and taking the helm in 2006, the editorial desk has provided an unmatched view of the sport. It has also been a privilege to expand my contributions beyond Scuttlebutt, notably with the US Sailing Rolex Yachtsman and Yachtswoman of the Year award and as a columnist for Sailing World magazine.
I am now exceedingly flattered to be working with an esteemed World Sailing team to provide the sailing event news from the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As if the Olympics weren’t rare enough, these Games will find the sport in a sailing-mad country. Unlike most previous Games, the sailing venue will be alongside other Olympic events. For those competing, this convergence will be electric.
Building up to the Games, I look forward to sharing stories in Scuttlebutt of those that have been to the Olympics, and those that will be competing on Guanabara Bay. It will be a memorable summer… please follow along.
