Sail Canada Youth Champs 2017 Venue Announcement

(August 8, 2016) – Sail Canada has announced that St. Margaret Sailing Club (SMSC) in Glen Haven, Nova Scotia, has been selected to host the 2017 Sail Canada Youth Championships. The Championship will take place August 28th – September 1st 2017. Competitive youth sailors from across the country are invited to compete at the renowned sailing venue on St. Margarets Bay.

The Sail Canada Youth Championships is an annual event bringing together the countries top competitive youth sailors. The purpose of the championship is to provide development opportunities for youth sailors through training & racing experiences, award the Youth National Champions, train & develop officials and serve as a talent identification opportunity for national and provincial team coaches. The Sail Canada Youth Championships have most recently been based at CORK, in Kingston, Ontario.

St. Margaret Sailing Club is a proven host for regattas and championships. The club has hosted high level events including the Laser World Championships in 2009, numerous national and continental class championships, as well as Sail Canada regional and national championships. On an annual basis the SMSC Bay Wind Regatta has become a staple event for sailors of all ages from across Atlantic Canada, Quebec and eastern United States. SMSC last hosted the Sail Canada Youth Championships in 2011.
