Big Wind Delays Bermuda Mothfest

Published on December 4th, 2016

Hamilton, Bermuda (December 4, 2016) – High winds postponed the first day of racing at the MS Amlin International Moth Regatta. The wind on Great Sound was blowing between 20 and 25 knots with gusts approaching 30 knots and 2- to 5-foot seas, conditions deemed too rough for the 9-foot long hydrofoiling dinghy.

A fleet of 52 sailors, including two of the top three finishers from last year’s regatta, are competing at the second annual edition on Bermuda’s Great Sound. Hosted by the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, the $10,000 regatta runs through Friday, Dec. 9.

Racing is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Monday, at 1100 hours and four races are planned. Wednesday’s spare day is now a scheduled race day.
