Another Honor for Stan Honey

Published on February 1st, 2018

National Sailing Hall of Famer Stan Honey (Class of 2012) will be inducted yet again, this time into the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF). The winning offshore navigator and inventor of football television’s yellow “First and Ten Line” is one of 15 pioneers to be honored at NIHF’s induction ceremony on May 2-3, 2018.

NSHOF Hall of Famer Stan Honey created the LiveLine TV graphics. In addition to the “First and Ten Line,” Honey’s work is also seen in the red and blue tails following streaking hockey pucks, the tracking of NASCAR and IRL cars, and the “strike zone” in televised baseball games.

More recently he combined his technical expertise with his love of sailing to create the on-screen TV graphics for the 34th America’s Cup, setting a new standard for how grand sailing events are visualized on television. Click here to watch a video about Honey’s LiveLine sailing graphics.

Honey’s sailing record is also impressive. A 2010 Rolex Yachtsman of the Year, he has won 11 of 22 Transpac races and broken several records in major offshore racing events. Click here to read more about Stan.
