Sail Canada Sailor of the Month

Published on May 28th, 2018

Sail Canada’s Sailor of the Month award acknowledges sailing achievements by Canadians involved or associated with the sport in all its forms. Here is the latest recipient.

It’s been a busy month for the Touch2Play team, competing in Les Voiles de St Barth on April 14-20, followed by the Antigua Sailing Week on April 28-May 4. Led by Rob Butler from the Collingwood Yacht Club, the team comprises a crew of 9 sailors, including Canadians Peter Berridge, Troy Farncombe, and Ken I’Anson.

Racing on a Reflex 38, the Canadians, Americans, and Trinidadian raced against strong international competition and through some challenging weather. This did not stop the crew from placing 3rd overall in both events. Results can be found at Les Voiles de St Barth and Antigua Sailing Week.

As the temperature rose, so did the results. Finn sailor Tom Ramshaw proved his strength in the 3rd round of World Sailing’s 2018 World Cup Series in Hyeres, France. Racing in a competitive fleet of 44 boats, Tom was able to finish 16th overall.

Congratulations to the Helly Hansen Sailor of the Month – Rob Butler & his team, Touch2Play
