Since 1973, the Volvo Ocean Race has sought to provide the ultimate test of a team and human adventure like no other. It has often been considered one of the sport’s big three events, alongside the Olympics and America’s Cup.
But with the popularity of the singlehanded Vendee Globe in IMOCA 60s, and 100-foot trimarans blistering records around the world, has the Volvo Ocean Race lost some of its thunder? Or does it remain as relevant as ever, fulfilling its proclamation as the world’s premier offshore race.
Since the start last October in Spain, and with the seven teams set to complete the 13th edition later this month in the Netherlands, how fan have you been?
