Marstrand, Sweden (July 4, 2018) – The qualifying stage began for 12 teams at GKSS Match Cup Sweden 2018, the first event of the World Match Racing Tour.

Racing in the M32 catamaran, the format divides the competitors in groups for fleet racing so all teams get to race against each other. The early results have Yann Guichard (FRA) winning three of his four races, with Taylor Canfield (ISV) also showing form with three bullets.

Following the completion of the qualifying stage, the lower 8 teams will go to knock out in a repechage stage, and the 4 winners of this repechage round will meet the fleet racing top 4 in the Quarterfinals.

This will be followed by semifinals, petite final and final. The top teams according to the fleet racing results will be able to choose their opponent for the next knock out stage up to the semi-finals.

Racing is planned for July 4 to 8.
