The 2018 Club 420 US National Championship was held July 17-19 by The Brant Beach Sailing Foundation at Brant Beach Yacht Club in Brant Beach, NJ. California’s Ansgar Jordan and Patrick Mulcahy topped the 145-boat field to win the 10-race series.

Day one delivered 15-24 knots for the start of the qualifying series which saw three race rotations with the second day offering more typical local conditions which started in light winds that reached 14 knots for four more qualifying races.

On the final day of racing, the fleet was divided evenly into Gold and Silver divisions for three more races that began in 8-10 knots of breeze and increased through the day.

Following Jordan and Mulcahy by two points was New Jersey’s Luke Arnone and crew Noble Reynoso in second with third place going to the dynamic junior girls from Annapolis and Houston Yacht Clubs, Maddie Hawkins and Yumi Yoshiyasu.
