Slow start for F18 World Championship
Published on October 15th, 2018
Sarasota, FL (October 15, 2018) – Light winds on the opening day of the F18 World Championship allowed for only one race for the 68 teams from 14 countries. Australians Brett Burvill and Max Puttnam took the win, followed by Iordanis Paschalidis/ Konstantinos Trigonis (GRE), and Hans Van Dam/ Marius Van Dam (NED).
Light breeze on the bay challenged the focus of competitors, and the patience of race committee who ultimately decided to cut the day’s racing short.
We had decent breeze throughout the first race, but after we finished it lightened up a lot,” noted local Nicholas Lovisa. “You have to be ‘head-out-of-the-boat’ and constantly talking to your crew. Fine tuning is important to make sure you are going as fast as possible.”
This is the second time that the event has been hosted in the United States.
Racing is planned from October 15 to 19.
