Finding salvation in Sarasota

Published on December 15th, 2019

The seventh annual pilgrimage of Viper 640 and VX One sailors for their Winter Series got underway December 14-15 in to Sarasota, Florida.

Four races were sailed on day one in Southwest Florida poster-worthy 12-18 knot conditions with air temperatures in the upper 70s while the fleets were greeted on day two by the 8-12 knot easterly that allowed them to rest their tired hiking muscles and focus on four more races in pristine conditions.

The 13-boat VX One fleet was topped by the Class President John Potter and who was followed by Hayden Bennet in second and Stanley Hassinger in third.

In the 19-boat Viper 640 fleet, Jackson Benvenutti came out on top with local Travis Yates in second edging out Mark Zagol.
