2020 DN Canadian Championship

Published on March 7th, 2020

The 2020 DN Canadian Championship was held March 7 on the Bay of Quinte in Belleville, Ontario.

DN sailors from Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Michigan, and New York competed in champagne conditions with temperature just above freezing, warm sun, and about ten knots of breeze that built to fifteen as the day went on.

Despite the warm temperature and sun, the ice stayed firm all day allowing for fast speeds for the 24 skippers to complete seven races. Sail and runner selection is always a hot topic for DN racers and 100 degree insert runners and full sails seemed to be the good combination for the day.

Kingston DN Fleet Leader Peter VanRossem took third, newcomer Robin Lagraviere finished second with veteran campaigner James Thieler claiming the title. Full results.
