Eight Bells: Toby G. Ritter

Toby G. Ritter

Toby G. Ritter, 88, died peacefully last week in his home (Larchmont, NY) after a long bout with lymphoma.

Toby served as Commodore of Beach Point Yacht Club (Mamaroneck, NY) and was a long time member of The New York Yacht Club. He was a veteran of a dozen Bermuda Race / passages.

Toby served aboard ice breakers in the US Coast Guard during his youth, fostering a love of sailing which led to him as Captain of his custom S&S 48 TIGER TOO where he skippered and mentored dozens of sailors over the years. He was a joy to sail with, always with a great smile and a razor sharp wit.

An avid skier, he spent his career in real estate management, and gave generously to many philanthropic endeavors, among them, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he was a member of their Board of Overseers.

Toby is survived by Nataly, his loving wife of 53 years, and four children. He will be truly missed.
