Youth sailor dies during practice

Sarasota, FL (November 21, 2020) – A child was fatally injured when two boats participating in a Sarasota Youth Sailing practice collided during one of the program’s regular sailing practices. The youth sailor, understood to be younger than 13 years, sustained serious injuries in the collision and later died at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Operating out of Sarasota Sailing Squadron, the program was conducting practices for C420s, Lasers, and Optimists. – Full report
