New record for Maserati Multi 70

The World Sailing Speed Record Council has confirmed the establishment of a new World Record on the 329 NM crossing from Plymouth, England to La Rochelle, France. Setting the new time is the Maserati Multi 70, helmed by Giovanni Soldini (ITA) and a crew of 6 (Giulio Bertelli, Guido Broggi, Carlos Hernandez Robayna, Oliver Herrera Perez, and Matteo Soldini).

The crew started on April 15 at 14;06;21 UTC and finished at 02;21;42 UTC on April 16, 2021. The elapsed time was 12 hours 15 minutes and 21 seconds, with an average speed of 26.84 kts. The previous record was set by “Phaedo 3”, helmed by Lloyd Thornburg and Brian Thompson (USA/GBR) on September 15, 2015 with an elapsed time of 14h 05m 20s.
