Cascais, Portugal (June 10, 2021) – After the rest day, the 49erFx women’s Olympic class fleet returned for the third day of racing at the 2021 Cascais International Week Act II. Following a shore-side postponement for the breeze to settle in, the 21 teams were able to complete three more races.
British Charlotte Dobson and Sakia Tidey continue in the lead although they lost punctual distance to the competition having made 7-12-3 today. In second place is the Spanish team Tamara Echegoyen and Paula Barcelo who rolled a 5-5-2 and are now 2 points off the lead. However, another successful day from Brazil’s Martine Grael and Kahena Kunze with a 4-1-4 has moved them now within 8 points from the Brits.
Americans Steph Roble and Maggie Shea finished the day with a 16-2-7 which moved them up to 7th overall.
Due to light winds for the final day on June 12, the format has shifted to complete three races tomorrow morning and the Medal Race in the afternoon.
In total, 5 continents are represented – North America, South America, Europe, Asia and Oceania – with 19 nationalities competing. The championship has 12 races scheduled plus a Medal Race that will count double points for the final overall.
Racing is planned for June 7-12.
