Squalls squash schedule at M32 Worlds

Published on November 19th, 2021

Miami, FL (November 19, 2021) – The second day of the M32 World Championships attempted to start on time, but squalls forced the fleet back to shore to await safe racing conditions. A little after 3:30pm, with 20-22 knots of wind on Biscayne Bay, the fleet of 11 teams completed one race won by Larry Phillips’ Midtown.

With high winds causing carnage, Midtown did well to stay clear of drama to move into third position overall. Convexity padded their overall lead a few points by finishing 2nd in the race. Hopes of another race was squashed when a squall forced the sailors back to the dock.

The forecast tomorrow is for a northeast wind blowing down over the towers on south beach – a shifty direction for Miami.

Nineteen races are planned for November 18-21.
