Navy wins Collegiate Offshore Regatta

Published on February 14th, 2022

The 2022 Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta took place February 11-13, the tenth running of the event, with 12 colleges participating, in Charleston, SC. The competition was tight even with the lack of wind. College of Charleston on Soul (J/36) won B fleet and Navy (USNA) won A fleet on Fearless (Melges 32) with all first place finishes and for the third year in a row, which also put them in a position to win the Overall Award.

One of the highlights was watching Clemson taking second place in A fleet. They have been racing in SCOR for the last several years and this year they sailed their J/111 Heat Wave to a second-place finish.

After 10 years of running this event, the competition has increased dramatically with more and more colleges wanting to participate. This is a trend within college sailing and is exciting for the future of big boat sailing.
