US Team evolves toward Paris 2024
Published on February 17th, 2022
The development of the US Sailing Team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games requires athletes/ teams to meet certain requirements while training and competing in their Olympic class. Based on their performance, they can achieve either Tier 1 or Tier 2 US status with corresponding levels of US Sailing Team-provided support.
While it is unclear what support is available (we asked, no answer), four athletes have been added to the US Sailing Team roster:
• Daniela Moroz (Lafayette, FL) – Formula Kite, USST Tier 1 (1st at the 2021 Formula Kite World Championships)
• Markus Edegran (West Palm Beach, FL) – Formula Kite, USST Tier 2 (15th at the 2021 Formula Kite World Championships)
• Louisa Nordstrom (Sarasota, FL)/ Trevor Bornarth (Port Salerno, FL) – Mixed 470, USST Tier 2 (13th at the 2021 470 World Championships)
Moving up to Tier 1 from Tier 2 after Top-10 rankings at the Skiff and Nacra World Championships in Al-Mussanah, Oman are the following:
• Ian Barrows (St. Thomas, USVI)/ Hans Henken (Coronado, CA) – 49er, 4th at 2021 Skiff World Championships
• Andrew Mollerus (Larchmont, NY)/ Ian MacDiarmid (Delray Beach, FL) – 49er, 6th at 2021 Skiff World Championships
