Maurice Daniher

Maurice “Dan” Daniher, 86, a long-time Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing Program sailor, died December 31.  With skipper Mike Jaffe, Daniher was a frequent competitor in the Freedom-20 class during the 1990s and 2000s in what was then the U.S. Independence Cup, U.S. Sailing’s national championship for sailors with disabilities.

Daniher and Jaffe won Chicago’s Goldman Cup on many occasions, as well as other regattas in Chicago’s competitive adaptive sailing scene. They also befriended and served as ambassadors and mentors to scores of new sailors. Dan also saw success crewing with skipper Bonnie Everhart.

He was the husband of Jeanne, nee Bell; father of Patrick (Tara), Karyn (Thomas) Grannan, and Christiane (Gary) Grannan; grandfather of Mary Kate Daniher (Zachary Marquez), Brian Daniher, Sean (Lexy) Grannan, Meghan and Matthew Grannan, Grace (Robert) Catanese, Theresa and Caroline Grannan.

Visitation Friday, Jan. 6, 2023, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Sat., Jan. 7, 2023, 9:00 AM from Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge, IL 60415 to St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 106th & Kedvale Ave., Oak Lawn. Mass 10:00 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
