Planning underway for Caribbean Multihull Challenge 2024

Published on July 12th, 2023

Following the growth of the 5th annual Caribbean Multihull Challenge Race and Rally, the 2024 event will have one-day more for racing and rallying during the 6th edition to be held February 1-4, 2024. The introduction of a Cruising Rally helped boost participation from 18 in 2022 to 32 in 2023, with feedback indicating that more would be better in 2024.

Stephen Burzon, volunteer marketing and operations director for the CMC since its inception in 2019, becomes more convinced every year that the Caribbean’s only all-multihull regatta and rally will see entries continue to climb. Burzon says…..

“As word gets out about the competition, the fun, the fellowship, the top-flight regatta management, and the adventure of multihull sailing in the warm waters of the Northeast Caribbean around the beautiful Dutch and French islands, our event is sure to grow in size and prestige,” said operations director Stephen Burzon.

For racers, the new four-day format will see a repeat of the three CSA 1 Trifecta distance races on three separate days; plus one extra day for shorter racing along the south coast of Sint Maarten. Other CSA Racing Classes will see more of the same line-up of courses from 2023 with more racing added on the fourth day.

For Cruising Sailors, the extra day will allow for a visit to the uninhabited French island of Tintemarre and an overnight in Great Bay, then a sail around SXM to the luxury of French-side Anse Marcel (Feb. 2), and then a welcoming stay in St. Barth’s (Feb. 3); with a sail back to the Sint Maarten Yacht Club in Simpson Bay on the final day.
