Sail Canada CEO Don Adams to retire

Published on September 20th, 2023

Sail Canada’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the past seven years, Don Adams, will retire in the upcoming year.

Over his 43-year career as a leader in the Canadian sport system, Adams previously worked with Badminton Canada, Diving Canada, and Equestrian Canada, as well as with Motivate Canada, a not-for-profit organization involved in developing youth sports leaders. He has led Sail Canada since January 2017.

“I really enjoyed my seven years with Sail Canada,” said Adams. “Throughout my career, my priority has always been to make sure Canadian athletes have the opportunity to reach their potential. They are ambassadors for their various sports and for Canada when traveling internationally, and this is the reason why I have been involved for so long.”

“Since coming on board at Sail Canada in 2017 and through his professional approach to managing the organization, Don has brought stability and structure to the organization,” said Hugh McGugan, Chair of Sail Canada’s Board of Directors. “His contributions to Sail Canada over that time are valued by all of us and we wish Don the very best in this new chapter of his life!”
