Published on May 26th, 2024

Puerto Ricans Francisco Figueroa and Faith Payne won the 2024 U.S. Multihull Championship, with racing held May 24-26 in Hobie 16s near Dallas, TX. In conditions from 5 to 25 knots, 28 teams competed in the 13-race series on Lewisville Lake, with the winners finishing with an 18-point lead over Mike Montague/ Katy Ward in second with John Tomko/ Casey Small another eight points back in third.

“It’s a special feeling to have our name on the Alter Cup, named after the founder of our Hobie class, along with other great champions,” said Figueroa and Payne. “We are both second generation Hobie sailors, so this win is especially meaningful.

“We grew up in this sport and we are so grateful for the love and support of our Hobie family throughout the years. It was a flawless event with varied weather conditions every single day testing consistency, patience and overall sailing sense. It was a tough battle on the water with great competition from the fleet.”
