Top 20 for Yacht Racing Image 2024
Published on November 13th, 2024
Twenty yacht racing photographers representing eleven nations have reached the final phase of the 2024 Yacht Racing Image Award. An international jury had previously selected 80 pictures for the public vote, and now have reduced the entrants to the top 20 pictures which will be exhibited at 2024 METSTRADE in Amsterdam.
Three prizes will be awarded to the winners: the Yacht Racing Image Award (main prize), selected by the international jury; the Public Award based on an online public vote from the 80 photos; and the Delegates Award based on votes by METSTRADE visitors of the top 20.
The winners of the contest will be announced November 21, 2024.
The international jury was comprised of Carlos Pich (ESP), journalist; Patricia Becker (NED), project manager at METSTRADE; Andy Rice (UK), sailing journalist and commentator; Soco Nunez de Cela (ESP), chair of The Magenta Project; and Shirley Robertson (UK), double Olympic champion and journalist.
Contest rules:
The contest is open to professional photographers who can confirm and prove that they have regularly published pictures and been paid for their work. The subject of the contest is boat racing in all its forms, from classic yachts to top-end racers, including multihulls, dinghies, foilers, windsurf and kitesurfing. The pictures submitted must reflect the spirit of yacht racing, and may have been taken at any time: before, during, or after regattas.
