WANTED: CEO for US Sailing

When US Sailing hired sports and entertainment industry professional Alan Ostfield in April 2021 as its Chief Executive Officer, it was a change in course for the national sailing federation. Prior to Ostfield, the position was held by someone within the sport, but Ostfield didn’t know bow from stern.

Ostfield’s moved on in August 2024, which allegedly is not an uncommon length of time for National Governing Body leadership, but it was significantly shorter than his predecessors. US Sailing has now retained Elevate Talent to seek Ostfield’s replacement, and while this consulting firm has high level experience in sports and entertainment, sailing is new to them too.

The CEO position, based in Bristol, RI, reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for driving key stakeholder relationships across the national sporting community while developing strategies to enhance programming and membership and generate partnership and philanthropic revenue during the critical period leading up to the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
