VIDEO: Tragedy in Australia

Published on December 6th, 2024

A man was killed in a boating crash between two competing yachts on Sydney Harbour. The collision occurred about 6:30pm on December 6, with a man in his 50s onboard the Stewart 34 Pendragon sustaining a severe chest injury in the crash and died at the scene. Pendragon was participating in the Royal Australian Naval Sailing Association twilight race while the other yacht (S&S 34) was racing with the Sydney Amateurs Sailing Association as part of its twilight race.

Editor’s note: This story has been corrected as it previously said the S&S 34 was participating in the Cabbage Tree Island Race hosted by the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia.
