Olympic sailor victim of sexual abuse

Published on January 12th, 2025

Argentine Olympic medalist Eugenia Bosco, who won silver in Sailing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, has denounced being the victim of sexual abuse by her former coach when she was 12 years old.

Bosco reached the pinnacle of her career by winning the silver medal in the Nacra 17 category at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games alongside Mateo Majdalani.

The sailor, who also excelled at the Pan American Games, winning gold in Santiago 2023 and silver in Lima 2019, took a transcendental step by publicly denouncing the sexual abuse she allegedly suffered during her childhood.

Eugenia Bosco’s complaint joins a series of testimonies from other alleged victims and aims to raise awareness of violence in sport. With her courageous testimony, Bosco is not only seeking to heal her own pain, but also to raise awareness of the violence that can be hidden in the sports environment. – Full report
