Published on January 26th, 2025

Les Sables d’Olonne, France (January 26, 2025; Day 78) – After 40 solo skippers left Les Sables d’Olonne on the elite round the world, solo, non-stop, and without assistance race, the top ten have now returned. As French champions Charlie Dalin, Yoann Richomme, and Sébastien Simon stood on the 2024-25 podium, the harbor continued to fill with finishers on January 24 and January 25, with the tenth finisher coming in today.

The stormy skies, strong winds and big waves were not the kind of welcome home Benjamin Dutreux (FRA) would have preferred, but the determined skipper of GUYOT environnement – Water Family crossed the finish line of his second Vendée Globe at 1541 hrs UTC for an elapsed time of 77d 03h 39min, finishing 1d 01h 37min after ninth place Sam Goodchild (GBR).

It was an impressive result for a sailor who sailed fast and smart and made some bold strategic choices which allowed him to break into the top 10 with an older, 2015 generation boat. Full report
