Published on February 11th, 2025

After a five-year hiatus, the J/24 Canadian Class Association has appointed a new council and has scheduled the 2025 J/24 Canadian National Championship on June 20-22 in Ottawa, Ont. The Nationals will be hosted by Nepean Sailing Club and held as part of the Nepean One Design Regatta.

Vince Somoza, who has owned and raced J/24s for over 30 years, has been appointed Council President. The Class Measurer will be Nathan Bresett who has been racing J/24s for over 14 years, and is the proprietor of Nye Boat Works in Foxboro, Ont. Rounding out the council are Josée as Secretary/Treasurer, and Jeff Jorgensen as councilor responsible for Membership and Marketing.

The new council aims to connect with J/24 enthusiasts across Canada to rejuvenate the class, increase membership, and hold annual J/24 events.
