Windsurfing featured at Youth Olympics

Published on February 21st, 2025

The International Olympic Committee has awarded sailing two events in the sport program for the Dakar 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games, to be held in Senegal on October 31-November 13. The program will have Men’s and Women’s Windsurfing, each with 24 entrants aged 14-16 years old at the time of the competition.

World Sailing is now inviting World Sailing Classes, non-foiling windsurfing equipment manufacturers, or suppliers to provide equipment and additional support. Supplied equipment will also assist the growth of windsurfing in Senegal and across Africa with the aim of supporting 14 athletes during qualification for the Youth Olympic Games and throughout the competition.

World Sailing also requests that bidders provide support for training and coaching programs for sailors, coaches, and race officials as part of a long-term commitment to developing the sport in Africa. For full details about the bidding process and criteria, click here.
