Plenty to look forward to

The growth of professional sailing has changed the sport. Competing in certain events or one design classes can require significant investment, and the blend with recreational sailors can be awkward. The best scenario is when all participants are all in, and that happens at the annual 52 SUPER SERIES.
Established in 2012, the five-event schedule for the TP52 Class is considered the world’s leading grand prix monohull yacht racing circuit. The equipment is highly evolved, the boats provide remarkable performance, and the crews are among the finest. There’s no messing around at this level.
While the circuit is bidding farewell to perennial favorites American Magic Quantum Racing and Phoenix, the expectation in 2026 is that the fleet and beyond will average at 13 boats and peak at 14 or even 15.
A new Botin Partners TP52 is in build at King Marine in Valencia, a close sistership to Alegre and Platoon Aviation. It is set to be raced by a Swedish-flagged team led by Joakim Sundberg, while Phoenix will be raced by a Brazilian team led by Finn Gold Cup and Star World Champion Jorge Zarif as tactician.
The 2026 schedule recognizes how summer sea breezes become less reliable in the Mediterranean and daytime temperatures become unpleasant, so the 52 SUPER SERIES is venturing to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands for the first time. Also on the plan are tried and true venues – Mallorca, Sardinia, and Valencia. The offseason has plenty to look forward to.
2026 52 SUPER SERIES
May 4-9 – Mallorca, Spain
June 15-20 – Sardinia, Italy (World Championship)
July 20-25 – Canary Islands, Spain
August 24-29 – Canary Islands, Spain
October 5-10 – Valencia, Spain
The 52 SUPER SERIES was established in 2012 and is considered the world’s leading grand prix monohull yacht racing circuit. The circuit grew from the ashes of the TP52 MedCup which hit the stops in 2011 when the principal sponsor withdrew.
