Celebrating excellence in Canada

Sail Canada annually celebrates the nation’s top recreational and competitive sailors, coaches, volunteers, and events via the Sail Canada Annual Awards. Here are some of the latest recipients:


• Sarah Douglas (Toronto, ON) and the Canadian 49er Team comprised of Will Jones and Justin Barnes (Aldershot, ON/ Pickering, ON) were named Gallagher Skippers’ Plan Athletes of the Year for 2024. The Gallagher Skippers’ Plan Athletes of the Year Awards are given out annually to two current Canadian Sailors or Sailing Teams of different gender identities. – Full report

• Dale King (Toronto, ON) has been awarded Sail Canada’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award which recognizes volunteers for their outstanding contributions to sailing activities at Sail Canada member clubs, sailing schools and regattas. Dale King is a Sail Canada certified Regional Judge, as well as a member of Sail Canada’s Judges Sub-Committee and the Training and Certification Advisory Committee. – Full report
