More ways to race with the wind

If the problem with sailing is getting wet, or securing power boats to run the races, the sport is not limited to competing on soft water:

• The 2026 Ice and Snow Sailing World Championships on February 16-21 brings together the world’s fastest and most passionate ice and snow sailors to the stunning lakeside city of Västerås, Sweden. On, the frozen waters of Lake Mälaren, athletes from around the globe will compete across three dynamic sail classes: Kite, Wing, and Windsurf. – Full report

• The 2026 Blokart North American Championship on March 28-April 5 celebrates this serious wind-powered toy that is fun, fast and compact. This premier event brings together top sailors from across the continent to one of the fastest, smoothest natural racecourses in the world – Ivanpah Dry Lake, Nevada. Competitors will go head-to-head in Production and Performance classes across multiple weight divisions. – Full report
