Scholarship for marine-related pursuits

Published on January 22nd, 2026

The Pacific Coast Congress of Harbormasters and Port Managers is accepting applications for scholarships and project grants from the organization’s Barbara Schwantes Fund (BSF). Applications are due March 1, 2026.

Scholarships and grants are available for up to $1000 and are issued through a competitive process. Applicants must reside in PCC’s region–Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, and the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The scholarships are intended for individuals planning to enroll or currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in a marine-related field, including marine science, marine education, marine engineering, facility operations, boatbuilding and repair, engine repair, marine surveying, and more.

Project grants are designed for projects that help promote the recreational and commercial boating industry and conservation, and that also raise awareness of the PCC. Examples include youth boating and sailing clubs, teams, and camps; community marine outreach programs; waterway and shoreline conservation efforts; and more.
